In 2023 we will be running 6 days mushroom growing courses in Planetary Healing Woodland in Balerno over the trhee weekends, Saturday & Sunday.

 

 1st Weekend, 2 days

​

Day 1: Introduction to mushrooms, their importance for Nature and humans. Foraging walk, edible and poisonous fungi ID. Introduction to mushroom growing. Mushroom life cycle. Taking spore prints and cloning mushrooms. Preparing and soaking straw as mushroom substrate using cold pasteurization method.

Day 2: Types of cultivated mushrooms. Mushroom spawn inoculation, making oyster mushroom grow bags. 

 

2nd Weekend, 2 days

Day 3: Knowing your trees. Inoculating Mushrooms on logs. Types of cultivated mushrooms on logs.

Day 4: Outdoor mushroom beds on organic substrates

 

 3rd Weekend, 2 days

Day 5: Mycoworms & mushroom compost from spent mushroom substrates. Community Forest Gardens

Day 6: Fungi Fun Day for wellbeing, Family Fun day. Mushroom Art. Mushroom food, tea, coffee. Mushroom stories and legends by the fire.
